BOE Letter: Rules to deal with rules
by pixel inas everybody jere knows, there is no requirement for a christian to "count and report" their time.
that's totally made-up by the wt/fds/gb, so, they have to make rules to deal with their own rules.... .

I sat in an elder's meeting with a CO a few years back and this guy was a real piece of work by the way. A relatively young and immature CO who I initially liked but as time went on I wanted to stick a rusty screwdriver in him. Anyways, what this clown used to do was pull out the time of individual elders that had less hours than the national average. This one brother that he really on and on about was an elder that does a lot of maitenance at the KH. He's sort of like a Tim the Tool Man kinda fellow. Jack of all trades, great for around the house type stuff. He's the guy you go to when you're getting ready to start a home project that you're hesitant about because of lacking experience. Naturally his abilities come in handy at the KH.
The guy has a family of his own, and works full time, so he's got plenty on his plate already. Well the CO looked at his time for a couple months that we had some major maitenance done at the Hall, and his time was lower than the average by a 2-3 hours. The CO wanted to know why, so the brother explained why. The CO stated that field service comes first and that the brother should have went out in service first and then afterwards come to the Hall to do whatever repair work was needed. I watched this brother's go red from his neck to the top of his head. The CO said some other things about that brothe that weren't appropriate, at least not in front of everybody. It was one of those moments where it was quite obvious why some congregations and circuits have almost as many former elders as there are currently serving elders.

I was about to say, I thought it only becomes official tomorrow. I had tomorrow plugged into my mind because it's officially over on the day of the memorial which is truly ironic.

Women: Are they Equal to Men ?
by villagegirl inone of the hard core doctrines of the wt society, and many other religions, is that women are to be in "subjection" to men.. in the bible, in genisis , it says the domination of women by men came after adam and eve disobeyed god.
eve was cursed by pain in childbirth and that from then on as a curse: "he shall rule over you " from then on the male was to dominate the female.. but that was not in the original plan.
this was a reversal of the plan and a curse.

Watchtower potentially receives at least $2.1 Billion a year in revenue by prohibiting holidays, etc...
by Calebs Airplane inso we all know that the main reason the watchtower corporation prohibits holidays, extra-curricular sports, higher education, etc.
is that this money could potentially become "voluntary donations" with just a little guilting and manipulation.
in the minds of the brooklyn brass, money that isn't spent on all this worldly stuff is potential liquid revenue (at least some of it anyway).. now let's go extremely conservative for a minute and say that the average "worldly" person only spends a total of $300 a year on christmas, birthdays, st. valentines, father's day, mother's day, extracurricular school sports, higher education, and all the other stuff that the wt frowns upon.... we all know that the real number is much higher than $300.

So we all know that the main reason the Watchtower Corporation prohibits holidays, extra-curricular sports, higher education, etc. is that this money could potentially become "voluntary donations" with just a little guilting and manipulation.
Ummm...no. lol at the bolded part.
And most 1st world JWs don't contribute $300 "extra" to the "worldwide work" in December either.
The primary reason JWs don't celebrate holidays is that it tends to isolate JWs; they are more likely to feel "unified" with other people like themselves who don't jump on the holiday bandwagon. It fosters a (granted, warped) sense of "community" amongst themselves, adding to the pressure to conform and adding the fear of doing any "serious sin" thus being expelled from the group.
No doubt about it the society want to isolate people, as there is more chance they will stay witnesses that way. If it was all about money they would be encouraging witnesses to get a good job or good education to increase the chance to make a lot of money. In fact the society do the very opposite. There is no encouragement at all for witnesses to better themselves or go to college to make more money. Little and often is their way. Just a few dollars a month, but received from 7 million witnesses seems to be the way that works for them

I love the contradiction between paragraphs 8 & 14. On one hand Christ's sacrifice provides a ransom giving us a release from our debt related to sin. At least it did for Paul, and David was spoken of in a positive light in this same article. Then there's paragraph 14 where it insinuates that if you haven't become or reached out to become a pioneer, elder, or ministerial servant, well your baptism is pretty much, invalid, because you're likely to be destroyed during the great tribulation or Armageddon. So Christ's sacrifice covers David's conspiracy to have a man murdered, and his adulery. Christ's sacrifice covers Paul's actions prior to becoming a Christian which included persecution, wrongfully inprisoning innocent people, and likely murdering some early Christians.
You on the other hand, those of you that didnt pioneer, or become elders, or ministerial servants, all of you are toast. You pretty much sinned against the Holy Spirit. Been better if none of you halfsteppers were ever born. Articles like this remind me of warnings to avoid the mentality of "let us eat and drink for tomorrow we are to die." In this case it holds true, you are going to die because you didnt give your all, as defined by the faithful and discreet slave. After this lesson one cant help but wonder if Jehovah is "keeping account of transgressions", and if that's the case "who can stand?" Certainly not those who didn't obtain a title in the congregation. Articles like this are why 78 year old women feel obligated to auxiliary pioneer only to almost lose their life in field service after being mauled by a pitbull.

My husband MISSED the meeting today! AGAIN!!!
by Julia Orwell inyep, i was comparing the nwt with the greek, which, incidentally uses words like 'grace' and 'spirit' instead of 'undeserved kindness' and 'gifts of the spirit'.
i pointed out these mistranslations to my dear husband.. then i showed him 2 tim 2:5-6 in the nwt and the original greek (strong's, westcott and hort) as well, where it says jesus became mediator for all and showed him in the wt where it says jesus is only mediator for 144 000. i also showed him an instance in the wt where it raves on about hating 'apostates' and others, then showed him matthew 5:44 "however i say to you: continue to love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you.".
i didn't have to say anything 'apostate'; just show him the contrasting texts.. then i showed him the "shepherd" book where it says one can get dfd for "deliberately spreading teachings contraryto bible truth as taught by jebovah's witnesses" (ibid, pg 65) and told him that i've deliberately told him something different to the wt teaching therefore in the elders' eyes, i can be dfd.

lol that's all it takes to get somebody to take you to the beach? let me write this down in chronological order. Let's see, first go to 2 Tim 2:5-6, and then Matt.5:44, ok. Now by this point I should see her thinking about what swimsuit she's gonna wear, right? Happy for you though, you got him and he's got you. That might be all that matters.
